Role of Parents

  • Flora Rodriquez-Brown, director of Project FLAME and professor of education and coordinator of bilingual/ESL training programs at the University of Illinois at Chicago will share family literacy issues and ESL programs designed to increase improve the Latino parents and home literacy environments of their children ages three to eight.
  • Sharon Darling, president and founder of National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) and Laura Westberg, senior director of NCFL will address the role of parents and how parents can gathering more books and why they are important to helping deliver more words to more children.
Hug-A-Book will share information on how to get more books to more children and ways to make more books more effective for increasing children’s number of words read and heard.

Take away concrete tactics to use from our Solution Partners during the breakout sessions at the conference.
