“The Easel Work Area offers opportunities to build self-confidence and ability in drawing and writing, opportunities for risk-taking and exploration opportunities for the development of fine motor skills and spatial organization skills and opportunities to work alongside another child, learn from another child or to collaborate on a shared idea with another child.”

While in this work area, children are able to choose between fine-tip and thick-tip markers to draw and/or write for a 20-minute period of time. During the course of a kindergarten year, we have observed a variety of learning experiences in the easel work area.
